Using Kurtosis for Selecting One-Sample T-Test or Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test

چکیده

Aims / Objectives: To introduce a statistical test, which is mixture of the one-sample t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test depends on sample kurtosis, using data from symmetric univariate distribution with finite variance.
Study Approach: Computer simulation coverage probabilities power calculations either or based software R.
Methodology: Data are generated differing sizes Normal, Uniform, student-t small degrees freedom, Laplace distributions. Coverage compared t-test, three proposed tests select kurtosis being significantly low high either. Nonstandard values t, probability Type I error, selected to account for discrete nature allowing fair comparisons among tests.
Results: The false positive rate simulated these nine distributions both two-sided one-sided tests, five testing procedures.
Conclusion: When dataset sampled distribution, then in comparison equal preference Normal fact more preferable non-Normal tested herein. For sizes, preferred over but otherwise all tests.

Wilcoxon signed rank test for imprecise observations

This article extends the Wilcoxon signed rank test for testing whether the median of a population is a specified constant by treating the observations as imprecise values. The test procedure is developed by using the concepts of “Credibility Theory” for studying the behavior of fuzzy phenomena. Numerical illustration of the proposed test is provided by representing the observations as trapezoid...

The Wilcoxon signed rank test for paired comparisons of clustered data.

The Wilcoxon signed rank test is a frequently used nonparametric test for paired data (e.g., consisting of pre- and posttreatment measurements) based on independent units of analysis. This test cannot be used for paired comparisons arising from clustered data (e.g., if paired comparisons are available for each of two eyes of an individual). To incorporate clustering, a generalization of the ran...

A Generalization of Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test

In this paper, we consider applying the Wilcoxon’s idea for the construction of the one-sample problem to the two-sample case. For this, we show that the location translation parameter becomes a median of the distribution of the difference of two independent random variables under the location translation model. Based on this fact, we construct generalized signed-rank statistics for the two sam...

A Bayesian Wilcoxon signed-rank test based on the Dirichlet process

Bayesian methods are ubiquitous in machine learning. Nevertheless, the analysis of empirical results is typically performed by frequentist tests. This implies dealing with null hypothesis significance tests and p-values, even though the shortcomings of such methods are well known. We propose a nonparametric Bayesian version of the Wilcoxon signed-rank test using a Dirichlet process (DP) based p...

Weighted Wilcoxon-Type Rank Test for Interval Censored Data

Interval censored (IC) failure time data are often observed in medical follow-up studies and clinical trials where subjects can only be followed periodically, and the failure time can only be known to lie in an interval. In this paper, we propose a weightedWilcoxontype rank test for the problem of comparing two IC samples. Under a very general sampling technique developed by Fay (1999), the mea...
